PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Life in Cuba is very hard. Poverty, crime, drug trade, and spiritism are the source of great lack of perspective and despair even for the younger ones.
A missionary aid project was developed for children and it has proven itself. They teach the word of God and Christian values in the Bible clubs to the kids. The kids receive food and tutoring, and their families receive social help. The Bible clubs meet in very simple places like a living room, a space in front of a house or a backyard. The focus are the needs of the families so they can get help accordingly. The results of the Bible clubs are very positive. Many children find their faith in God and their families find access to the churches. This way some new churches have been founded.
Through the experience of the work in the Bible clubs another project was developed. The sports program fetches many children and youth from the streets. The offer for sports activities is quite diverse: sports training for children and youth, aerobic, basketball, soccer, and volleyball tournaments. Before or after every training there is a time for a short devotion. Here the children and youth can forget about their worries. With the staff, they find open ears and hearts for their problems. Many have given their lives to Jesus and have changed radically!
The staff of the Bible clubs and the sports program keep organizing special activities, where also the parents of these children are being invited. They plan evangelistic camps for the athletes and their families and carry out mission assignments. They offer workshops and theme nights for parents; they organize summer camps, domino tournaments, senior sports, and sport competitions.
With great passion, they pass on God’s love and the good news. They do this in a creative and attractive way so that not only the kids and youth but also their families would know of the love of God.
