In the fishing villages around Tallarevu on the Bay of Bengal, life is not easy: the men catch fish or crabs, while the women sell the catch or work in a shrimp processing factory. Poverty, alcohol and violence shape the everyday lives of many families. This is also the case for Daksha and Lal (names changed). When their father dies as a result of his alcoholism, their mother has to remarry. But the stepfather refuses to take care of the siblings. Their pastor advises the mother to seek help from the “Anandanilayam” children's home. The two children are accepted there. Their health improves, they can go to school and enjoy the children's church services and the community with other children.
In India, twelve children's homes offer a safe place for orphans and social orphans like Daksha and Lal. The girls and boys are safe from exploitation and child labor and are given the chance of a school education. In the affiliated churches and in the daily routine, there are times for devotion, prayer and church services.
In Latin America, too, numerous EBM INTERNATIONAL projects take care of children and teens who need help: PEPE and MANA projects offer care and support starting at preschool age. Social centers are places for practical help, pastoral care for entire families, and offer care and evangelistic opportunities for all ages. The children's home in Alem, Argentina, offers about 30 children a loving home in family groups.
The social center in Macia, Mozambique, cares for children with and without disabilities and supports them in their development. A large team also visits families in the area and offers counseling and practical help. A preschool rounds out the program. Our schools in Africa help girls and boys to lay a solid foundation for further education and an independent life.
Together with you, we want to meet the needs of children at risk worldwide and give them hope in faith and the comfort of a home. In more than 50 projects, girls and boys experience love, care and security. All initiatives are connected to a local church and invite children to believe through children's hours or church services.
Your Christmas donation – whether as an offering in the church, the proceeds of a bazaar or as an individual – gives girls and boys hope:
