EBM INTERNATIONAL looks after local staff and missionaries and supports them in the social missionary projects in founding churches, theological training, staff training, and in different projects for children and youth. Oscar and Alicia Kunigk and other missionaries have a big heart for the people.
Poverty, crime, and drug trade characterize life of many children and youth in Argentina. About 25 years ago in 12 de Mayo close to Mendoza, a family started taking in children in need. From that emerged a social center which in time grew bigger and bigger with programs, properties, and facilities.
Children from slums do not have a chance to go to preschool since there is none or are not enough preschools in those areas. Without having gone to preschool though, they have a tough start in school. PEPE is a preschool program for these children.
Patagonia is the most southern part of Argentina and home to the Mapuche. Impoverishment, crimes, alcoholism, social conflicts, and diseases are the results of the brutal treatment of the indigenous people in the late 19th century. Today still this people lives withdrawn.
Many children in Argentina live under the worst conditions. They experience so much misery and are constantly facing dangers. Some of these children receive help in Mendoza and region at MANNA programs. MANNA is helping churches to deal with problems in their own surroundings.
In Latin America, many children live on the streets. Drug trade, crime, and sexual abuse are the biggest dangers for them. In Argentina and Brazil, thousands of them are involved in child labor. The majority of these children are poor and the majority of the poor are children.
