The “Extreme North” region of Cameroon is one of the poorest areas in the world. It borders Nigeria and Chad. Niger is also only a few kilometers away. Lake Chad is the lifeline in the region but it has been suffering from the effects of climate change for many years. A comparison of satellite images from different years shows the dramatic decline of the lake. In addition, the terror of Boko-Haram threatens the population. The sect’s hostility towards education, moderate Islam and Christianity often make life impossible for people.
The city of Ijuí, just 130 years old, has always been of strategic and missionary importance. Located in the very south of Brazil, it is the centre of mission societies and universities. Ijuí is also important for the mission work of EBM INTERNATIONAL because it is where different branches of work show what integral mission can look like.
It is a good tradition to end the year at Christmas with an appealing for donations for our projects with children at risk. In the process of closing the annual financial year we are moved by how many people and churches participated. Even though the audit for the financial year 2020 will not be completed until the second half of February, we already know: last year we were able to finance all projects to the extent we had promised or even beyond. Our project managers succeeded very well in saving money during the pandemic, where programs had to be scaled down, and still continued to help effectively.
Thank you for the great pictures and your blessed work. In the midst of the Corona pandemic, your projects were able to visit the poor and needy and even celebrate a bit of Christmas with them. I am sure people have seen God’s loving hand through you. You make it light in a dark world and are such a strong witness for our God.
